STORY CONTESTS

Boundless Stories needs more stories! So to motivate writers to try their best and send in top-notch adventures for the initial release, we're holding contests. Writers can enter as often as they wish, for any category they like, and submit multiple entries for the same category if they keep coming up with good story ideas. The categories are:

Best Story About Space: We're talking Space! Not a story that takes place entirely inside a large space station, or on an alien planet, or crammed inside the claustrophobic confines of a Mercury capsule, though elements of these could be used. What we're judging on is how the writer conveys the awe and wonder that is Space! That big area outside the earth's gravity that's fascinated us for as long as there's been an "us."

Best Endangered Animals Story: Sad to say, but there's a lot of endangered animals, all of whom are worthy of a story. It could be about people who are trying to save the animals, the history of our growing awareness of their plight, from the animals point of view, or anything you can think of to present endangered animals in a well-told Boundless Story.

Best Use of a Penguin in a Science Fiction Story: Name says it all. Let's see who can write the most memorable adventure with this simple guideline.

Best Use of the Skill System: One thing that sets Boundless Stories apart from other "Choose Your Own" adventures is our skill system. You, as the central character in our stories, not only make important decisions that steer the story, but you learn valuable skills that can be used in other adventures. We would like some impressive stories that make full use of our skill system so people who pick up our game will become hopelessly addicted to building up their characters.

Best Christmas Story: There have been hundreds, thousands of Christmas stories told over the ages. Surely you have an idea or two that are different, and maybe better, than all of those others?

Best After Death Story: It happens to everybody eventually. If you've got any ideas, theories, beliefs, or guesses as to what happens afterwards, write them up as a Boundless Story and send it in. If you win we promise to deliver the prize before it happens to you.

Best Comedy: Let's see how much fun we can have before it breaks ;-)

Best Multiple Entry: We're writers, we are not bound by mundane restrictions. If we have an idea for a story about endangered animals in space, we'll write it! If we have an outline for a story where the reader tries to stop the ghost of a disgruntled penguin who builds a time machine to stop Christmas 1977 from happening, then I pity the fool who tries to stop us from writing it up and submitting it.

Like all writers of Boundless Stories you are rich, successful and world-famous. But the jet-set lifestyle of gala parties, exotic adventures and luxurious resorts just don't hold the glamour they did at the start. You need something that will put the excitement back into crafting the thrilling adventures that millions of fans will enjoy.

By coincidence (or maybe by sinister forces unseen) your butler hands you a letter, delivered by ninjas who just barely survived your security system of deadly robots, lasers, and cybernetically-enhanced tigers. Inside the envelope is a formal challenge (printed in embossed gold calligraphy) to write the best Boundless Story possible.

Which contest will you write for?
